So then, to sum up if you were a betting this week...
So, let's sum up. Women's Figure Skating: If you read your email like a good kid, we told you that the numbers were close, but the few people who thought that Sasha Cohen or Irina Slutskaya would both CHOKE and fall, you probably made some dollars. Shizuka Arakawa of Japan won, and if you guessed that then you CLEANED UP. Chances are that you didn't guess that though, because, really, who would have guessed that? Survivor: At 11 to1 odds, Ruth Marie was never a threat to win. And now there's only one "older" woman still standing, and I can't wait for the day when her obnoxious ass is gone. At 2 to 1, Aras is still a strong favorite. But we don't think he can win. He's just been too much of a jerk. Terry and Bruce at 3 to 2 and 3 to 1 are still heavy favorites, too. But if La Mina doesn't get their act together, that'll be a problem for Terry. We think there's possible value in an early bet on Austin or Bobby, who may have some tricks up their sleeves depending on how soon another merge happens. Check the HollyWagers Survivor:Exile Island Betting Guide for all the odds. American Idol: And Jocelyn's heart breaks as Patrick is eliminated. She LOVED him. Not as much as she loves Ace though, but then again, how can you not love Ace and his pretty face? No surprises for the girls: Becky was a train wreck and Stevie was like a bad school recital. No shocker with Bobby either. Copa Cabana? Really? Have you met the American public, Bobby. No lines are up yet, but we're expecting good value from bets on Taylor Hicks. And that is all! The Religious Experience that Was Tonight's American Idol
Even though every sportsbook out there is refusing to post American Idol odds until it's down to the final twelve, I'm just going to say that the only girl/woman who has a chance in hell of winning is Mandisa. Because she's good, because she has ample breasts, and because America still wants revenge for Frenchie getting cut. But seriously, did they TRY to get untalented but pretty girls into the final 12? Yes, they did, because they know enough to know that America hates those girls and will never vote for them. Not after how Ryan Starr let us down and instead of being the next Britney ended up on Battle of the Network Reality Stars. Embarassing. Paris Bennett? SO CUTE. I love her and her little choo-choo motion. Everybody else? Yawn. You think they didn't TRY to pack the field with women America will care less about so that a boy can win? Yes. They did. If you can find a line on whether the winner will be male or female, bet male. Bet Ace. And vote for Ace. Because I'm crushing on Ace. And can we just also say, has Paula Abdul ever looked older in her life? Who thought that hair style was a good move? There was one shot of her face where she looked fifty years old. Where is my cute sweet Paula? Bring her back! Bring her back! She'll perk up when Ace sings tomorrow. I feel so complete after having watched that. I'm so empty without Idol. Grammys Recap...
Let's face it, you were probably more enthralled with American Idol last night-- it's the first Hollywood show, people-- than with actually watching the Grammys. But did you make any money backing the U2 train? Here's how the odds went down: Record of the Year• Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day (3/2): Green Day was bound to win something this year, and this was probably the one to get for them. You came out pretty good on this one, even if they were a hedge bet. Album of the Year• How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb - U2 (1/1): You doubled up on this one. Song of the Year• Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own - U2 (4/1): This came out of nowhere. Really. If this was a serious hedge bet for you, you got serious money. Best Female Pop Vocal Performance• Since U Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson (3/2): There would've been something seriously wrong with the Academy if she didn't take this home. And, you know, it's kinda cool that an Idol took it all the way to the top. Best Rock Album• How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb - U2 (5/4): U2 just surprised everybody last night. Bono can stop being a megalomaniac now. And you got a nice chunk from this one. Best Rock Song• City of Blinding Lights - U2 (5/1): I don't even remember this song. But maybe the Academy felt bad about the whole Nobel Peace Prize snub. Like they need more awards. But 5 times your cash on top of what you bet? $20=$120 right there. Best Rap Album• Late Registration - Kanye West (1/3): Even just a little win is a little win. Best Rap Song• Diamonds from Sierra Leone - Kanye West (1/1): Another double-up. Who's got the bigger ego: Kanye or Bono? Discuss. Best R&B Song• We Belong Together - Mariah Carey (1/1): How long has it been since Mariah won? 16 years or something? She doubled you up here. Best Country Song• Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flatts (1/1): This was pretty predicable as well. Pretty boys win. And you double up. Labels: Grammys
