Simon Picks His Final Three
This week, Simon and his Pecs said that the final three AI contestants will be Chris Daughtry, Taylor Hicks and Pickler. Think that impacted the odds? You may be surprised to see that it really seems like it didn't. It seems more like this week's performances had a greater impact on the odds. And also, if we haven't said it enough, if you're going to bet on McPhever or Chris Daughtry, do it now. They're both moving towards even money pretty quickly. A quick sum up shows: - In shocking news, Bucky stays a long shot. - McPhever and Chris have their odds tighten way up. - Mandissa, Paris, Lisa, Ace, and Elliot dip. - Taylor stays the course. = Pickler starts to climb back up the ladder after last week's bad performance. We've updated all of the odds (including week over week odds trends) and some of the nasty comments in the Idol Betting Guide. Click here to check it out!Labels: American Idol, reality

The West Wing's next Pres?
It's the final season of the hit show. Did you know that Bodog has odds up on who will be elected President on the show before it goes off the air forever? It's Jimmy Smits vs. Alan Alda for President of the free world-- who will take it? I know, I know, it's fictional. But really, aren't celebrities fictional too, sometimes? It's something different to bet on TV, with all those reality shows sucking up our time. Try it today!Labels: TV

Ace's Odds Take a Tumble. Taylor Wears a Suit Well.
Well, week one is in. While Pickler made my head hurt when she sang, Melissa McGhee should have gone home last week, so at least the right person is out. And the odds have changed. We've updated the HollyWagers Idol Betting Guide to show last week's odds and this week's odds, but here's the run down: Bucky and Kevin are now listed as being even LONGER long shots, despite not being anywhere near the bottom three. Katharine McPhee's odds tighten up, making her the second favorite in the oddsmakers' minds. So do Taylor Hicks, and in that suit he is my new boyfriend. Lisa Tucker, Paris, Ace and Pickler take a tumble in the odds. Daughtry becomes an even bigger favorite. If you're going to bet money on him, bet it now before he goes to even money. Neverland is shutting down...
...but will the old employees of Wacko Jacko get paid? Head over to Bodog and check out the odds on whether or not the employees of the Neverland Ranch will get paid by the end of next month. Yes is at -125. No is at -105. What does that mean? It's more likely those poor folks won't get paid. Think about it: MJ's been recovering from last year's molestation trial, and now may have to sell off his assets because he's majorly in debt. Which means that Paul McCartney may just get his songs back. Finally! Hey, if you've got an extra $5, toss it in there. Labels: Michael Jackson

A Little Oscar Wrap-Up
Oh man. What a night. So before I get into the winners that were in our betting guide, let me just say that Three 6 Mafia winning for "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" was just classic. And their performance was the best highlight of the night. Now, these odds are the numbers that were up on Bodog when the nominations were announced. So if you put any money down with these odds, you may have made a little money. If you waited for odds to change, like Jocelyn did, you could've cashed out pretty big. Best ActorPhilip Seymour Hoffman, "Capote" (1/9): His numbers were a little inflated early on, because so many people were certain it was going to be a Brokeback sweep. Best SupportingActorGeorge Clooney, "Syriana" (1/1): George was even pretty much all the way up to the awards ceremony. There was too slim a chance for him to win for Best Director, and the Academy wasn't going to let him go home empty handed. Best ActressReese Witherspoon, "Walk the Line" (2/13): Felicity Huffman had the better numbers early on, but the sooner the show was approaching the more it was becoming obvious that Reese was going to win. But with those early numbers, that's a nice chunk of change. Best Supporting ActressRachel Weisz, "The Constant Gardener" (1/4): Like I said before, it was a backlash against Brokeback right before the ceremony, and the Academy likes her. Best DirectorAng Lee, "Brokeback Mountain" (1/17): This award actually made sense, if you think about the other categories the movie was shut out of. And it wasn't really given for the movie, it was given because Ang Lee is just a good director, period. Best Picture"Crash" (1/1): Even if you had this as a hedge bet, you made a little bit. Its numbers were getting inflated toward the end because it seemed that Munich actually had a shot. The dresses? Loved Kiera and Salma. What the hell was on Charlie's shoulder? And what was Lauren Bacall thinking with the hand-beaded fanny purse? You would think people would get it by now. And Jon Stewart. I love him on The Daily Show, don't get me wrong. But he was hit and miss during the show. The joke about "Martin Scorsese, 0 - Three 6 Mafia, 1" was great. Labels: awards, Oscars

Finally! Somebody posts some Idol odds!
So maybe you watched Tuesday night's Idol and saw the howling that was Kinnik Sky and the "What WAS that?" that was Melissa McGhee. FINALLY somebody's got some odds up, and they agree that Melissa "Howling at the Moon" McGhee doesn't have a shot. The only people listed as a longer shot and McGhee (at +1800) are: - Will Makar and his Kenny Rogers issues at +2400
- Bucky Covington at +3200 (After all, Bo happened LAST year)
- Kinnik, Kevin "The Featus" Covais and Gedeon "Creepy Smile" McKinney, all at +4000
There are some shockers in the offical odds, for sure. But we're going to hold off a little bit for our official AI Betting Guide later this week when the final 12 are wrapped up. If you want to check the current odds, go to SportBet, hit the link at the top of the page that says "Live Lines" and scroll to the bottom to find the American Idol link. We think you'll be surprised. Click to go check out the official odds now!Labels: reality

That headache? It's an Oscar hangover.
For real. If you had put down money on Crash at any point on Friday, you probably cleaned up. The rumor going around all day Saturday was that it was going to win because the votes were going to be divided up between Brokeback and Munich. Jocelyn raked in a cool $1000 on that puppy! Stay tuned, because on Wednesday, we'll give you the complete breakdown of the evening-- from the winners and losers, to the fashion, to Jon Stewart's hosting job. Keep it locked! All the Thursday Betting Rundown...Plus some!
So much going on this week. Firstly, on Survivor, the tribe WE ALL HATE MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD lost immunity and cheers were heard the world round. Then, in something that rarely, if ever, happened on Survivor, four...FOUR people got votes cast for them in tribal council. It went down like this: Courtney, Danielle, Cirie voted for: Bobby (3) Shane voted for: Aras (1) Bruce voted for: Courtney (1) Aras and Bobby voted for: Bruce (2) So Bobby is gone, and I think we don't care because we'd like to see all of them get voted off. Go La Mina. From a betting perspective, Bobby was 5 to 1, so not a long shot or a favorite, really. What's more interesting from a betting perspective is that the hatred on Casaya tribe means that you have to wonder about the ability of any of them to go far, because anything could happen on that tribe at any time. Aras is a favorite at 2 to 1, but that may not be such a strong bet any more. His tribe seems ready to cut him off at the drop of a hat. Start looking for La Mina value in Dan and Terry. Remember that we've got a whole Survivor Betting Guide if you need a refresher. Oh, would somebody put up American Idol 5 odds already? I'd be cleaning up, having predicted all four LOSERS this week (except that I dug Sway, so that made me sad). From the girls, Heather Cox and her Mariah balad (has she never watched a season? Just...don't...sing...Mariah) and Brenna "I was put on the show so that America would have somebody to hate" Gethers went on home. From the boys, Sway made me sad and left and the crooner is gone, but how much further could he go, really? And nobody has Apprentice odds up, because nobody knew that a new season had started. Hello? NBC, why would you put that show up against 24? Oh, because your other option is putting it against American Idol. I feel you. Labels: American Idol, Apprentice, reality, Survivor

This week is about the best, but who's the worst?
Sure the Oscars are on Sunday, and sure you can check our handy little betting guide before Sunday to get your bets in. But what about the Razzies, the worst of the worst of Hollywood? You probably didn't even know you could bet on them, did ya? The best part is, you can bet on them at two different places: Bodog has listed them right before the Oscar noms. Sportbet has their own page for them: just scroll down to "2006 Razzie Awards" at the bottom of the page. Worst actor? Tom Cruise in War of the Worlds. Not to mention acting straight, acting in love with Katie, and acting like he's going to have a child after being married to 2 women who are perfectly capable of having children. I'll be jumping on my own couch after winning that one. Labels: awards, Razzies
