Johnny Fairplay went first in Survivor: Micronesia...

..and thank God, too, because it was bad enough that he lost some teeth last year, and putting up with another season of his crap would just kill off whatever's left of my soul. So, now there are more girls left than guys, and that's a nice start, right? Bodog has the odds on whether or not a male or female will win the new season of "Fans vs. Favorites."

The guys are at +110 and the girls are at -150, so the girls are looking good at the moment. Let's take the money and run, ladies!

Survivor Madness Begins Again

I feel like we just left Fiji, and Earl, and Yau-Man. But here we are again with another season of Survivor, and this time they're filming a U.S.-produced show for the first time in China, which is actually pretty cool. That doesn't mean that the actually contestants are going to be any less, you know, camera-hoggy.

We're working on a betting guide to the next season, so look out for that sometime next week, after the long Labor Day weekend.

Fear not, there are a slew of other props about Survivor that you can pick from to bet on over at Bodog:

Will CBS publicly announce, in 2007, that Survivor 16 will be an All-Stars edition?
Yes EVEN
No -140

You know, it's been awhile since we've had an All-Stars version of the show, and it'd be cool to see who'd be available to do it this time around. We love seeing the old folks make a comeback.

Will CBS publicly announce, in 2007, that Survivor 16 will be the last installment in the reality TV series?
Yes +400
No -700

The show's been going on for 7 years now, and its ratings are steadily declining (for the most part), but people still care about it.

Will Survivor host Jeff Probst sign on to host Survivor 17?
Yes -500
No +300

He should, dammit. Because who else can be as Probsty and Jeff Probst, yo? (But Phil Keoghan, who hosts The Amazing Race, wouldn't be too bad, though.)

Will Survivor 16 be set on an Island?
Yes -300
No +200

You know, they haven't done a Survivor on any weird islands in the Mediterranean yet, have they? That would be different, right?

Which hemisphere will Survivor 16 be filmed in?
Western +200
Eastern -300

The better odds are on the Eastern, but that's probably because they have more islands in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Which continent will Survivor 16 be filmed in?
North/Central America 9/5
South America 9/2
Europe 12/1
Asia 6/5
Africa 5/1
Australia 9/1
Antarctica 500/1

You know, Survivor: Antarctica would be completely awesome, but it's too extreme of an environment for this kind of show. Maybe if they did it on one of the islands off of Alaska or up in Canada?

Which tribe will the winner of Survivor China be from originally?
Fei Long -120
Zhan Hu -120

We can't really speculate on this yet, since the tribes haven't been chosen yet.

Will the winner of Survivor China be male or female?
Male -125
Female -115

The ladies have the edge here, but is that because one of the women is a pro wrestler for the WWE?

Will any of the Survivor China contestants require medical attention during the season?
Yes +150
No -200

Let's hope not, but you never know. The odds are pointing to no, probably because we haven't heard any rumors from the filming that someone was seriously hurt. Then again the production is very tight-lipped.

Survivor's over, Eurovision crowns a winner, and... Tiger Woods?

So there were a couple of props you could've bet on this weekend. Didja make any money?

Serbia (at +350) won the Eurovision song contest, with an oddly dressed pop singer named Marija Serifovic. I'm not sure exactly if she'll ever break through in the States, but bless her heart for representing for a war-ravaged part of the world, right?

The Survivor: Fiji finale was last night, and in a unanimous vote, favorite from the get-go Earl took home the big million. He was even money going into the weekend, so if you'd gotten him, like, in the first week, you would've made a couple of bucks.

And speaking of dudes named Earl (or possibly to be named Earl), BetUS has the odds on a slew of names that Tiger Woods and his wife could call their child, at #1 with a bullet is... you guessed it, Earl at +200. But it'd be a really tear-inducing reason: it was Tiger's late father's name. Aw.

Survivor: Fiji is in full swing!

Last night, Katrina survivor Erica got bumped out because her tribe thought she was too overbearing. Sylvia almost got voted out because her leadership was put in question after she returned from Exile Island to a more bonded team. Will she make through next week?

Princely affairs, and a reality round up!

Well, what a past couple of weeks. CariDee won America's Next Top Model, Erik won The Biggest Loser, and Yul won Survivor: Cook Islands. We feel a little cold after everything ending so quickly. But fear not! American Idol fires right back up on January 16th! You better believe we're excited.

And don't forget, the nominating season has begun! The Golden Globes are on Monday, January 15th, and the Grammys are on Sunday, February 11th. We'll have betting guides up on both of those by the end of the week. The nominations for the Oscars aren't until January 23rd, so we have a little time to wait on those.

But onto the post of the day. Last week Prince William was finally inducted into Her Majesty's Royal Army, and his girlfriend Kate Middleton was there, fueling the rumors that they will soon be engaged. Our buddies over at BetUS want to know what will happen with the lovebirds by the end of next year:

They will wed (+500): Considering how big his parents' wedding was back in the '80's, there's such a slim chance of this happening at the end of the year, even if they get engaged right this minute. Everyone (particularly the English) love summer weddings. Less rain that way.
They will break it off (+200): If the rumors become too much, they'll have to break it off. The royal family's too paranoid about who's going to be married to the Prince when he becomes King, and they don't want William making too rash of a decision, right?
She will become pregnant (+1000): This would be awesome. We need some real scandal in the royal household, especially since that report on Diana was just released saying her death was an accident. Phooey.
A XXX video released to the general public (+5000): Come on, you'd pay to see it, too. A little creepy, though.

Check it out today!

Survivor betting: bitch slapped.

So there was a leak. Some dummy decided to make a bunch of max bets on Survivor over at Bodog at the end of last week, and Bodog shut the lines down.

E Online said it best. (But don't read the article if you don't want a spoiler!)

What's the lesson we learned today, kids? If you have inside information, be moderate with trying to get your scrilla. Keep that on the down low.

The big Survivor merge!

Now it's really getting hardcore. The new Gitano tribe was formed last week, and now nobody is safe from being in separate tribes. Bodog says that Aras is even money, while Terry is right behind him at 2/1, and Bruce and Sally aren't far behind, both at 3/1. Check the betting guide for the latest numbers.

All the Thursday Betting Rundown...Plus some!

So much going on this week. Firstly, on Survivor, the tribe WE ALL HATE MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD lost immunity and cheers were heard the world round. Then, in something that rarely, if ever, happened on Survivor, four...FOUR people got votes cast for them in tribal council. It went down like this:

Courtney, Danielle, Cirie voted for: Bobby (3)
Shane voted for: Aras (1)
Bruce voted for: Courtney (1)
Aras and Bobby voted for: Bruce (2)

So Bobby is gone, and I think we don't care because we'd like to see all of them get voted off.

Go La Mina.

From a betting perspective, Bobby was 5 to 1, so not a long shot or a favorite, really. What's more interesting from a betting perspective is that the hatred on Casaya tribe means that you have to wonder about the ability of any of them to go far, because anything could happen on that tribe at any time. Aras is a favorite at 2 to 1, but that may not be such a strong bet any more. His tribe seems ready to cut him off at the drop of a hat. Start looking for La Mina value in Dan and Terry. Remember that we've got a whole Survivor Betting Guide if you need a refresher.

Oh, would somebody put up American Idol 5 odds already? I'd be cleaning up, having predicted all four LOSERS this week (except that I dug Sway, so that made me sad). From the girls, Heather Cox and her Mariah balad (has she never watched a season? Just...don't...sing...Mariah) and Brenna "I was put on the show so that America would have somebody to hate" Gethers went on home. From the boys, Sway made me sad and left and the crooner is gone, but how much further could he go, really?

And nobody has Apprentice odds up, because nobody knew that a new season had started. Hello? NBC, why would you put that show up against 24? Oh, because your other option is putting it against American Idol. I feel you.

Friday, February 24, 2006

So then, to sum up if you were a betting this week...

So, let's sum up.

Women's Figure Skating: If you read your email like a good kid, we told you that the numbers were close, but the few people who thought that Sasha Cohen or Irina Slutskaya would both CHOKE and fall, you probably made some dollars. Shizuka Arakawa of Japan won, and if you guessed that then you CLEANED UP. Chances are that you didn't guess that though, because, really, who would have guessed that?

Survivor: At 11 to1 odds, Ruth Marie was never a threat to win. And now there's only one "older" woman still standing, and I can't wait for the day when her obnoxious ass is gone. At 2 to 1, Aras is still a strong favorite. But we don't think he can win. He's just been too much of a jerk. Terry and Bruce at 3 to 2 and 3 to 1 are still heavy favorites, too. But if La Mina doesn't get their act together, that'll be a problem for Terry. We think there's possible value in an early bet on Austin or Bobby, who may have some tricks up their sleeves depending on how soon another merge happens. Check the HollyWagers Survivor:Exile Island Betting Guide for all the odds.

American Idol: And Jocelyn's heart breaks as Patrick is eliminated. She LOVED him. Not as much as she loves Ace though, but then again, how can you not love Ace and his pretty face? No surprises for the girls: Becky was a train wreck and Stevie was like a bad school recital. No shocker with Bobby either. Copa Cabana? Really? Have you met the American public, Bobby. No lines are up yet, but we're expecting good value from bets on Taylor Hicks.

And that is all!

And so it was Danni!

Who was the favorite at Bodog all along. I'm shocked that there's not a line up already to bet on how soon she'll appear in Playboy, because all that silicone she must have had shot up in her lips better be good for something.

I won. I hedged and bet Danni and Rafe. In case you missed my logic, it was that Danni could beat Lydia and Stephenie in a final two. Rafe could beat Lydia and Stephenie in a final two. And if the final two were Rafe and Danni, then one of them would have to win and there was no way for me to lose money. So I won money. Then I lost it all again playing poker at a Christmas party, so go figure.

It's about time to shift to Oscar lines and Grammy lines. I know, it feels so far off. But you can already see a bunch of them at Bodog. Check it out. Because to review, Mariah Carey is the FAVORITE to win album of the year. And I'm not okay with that.

Judd calls his team "scumbags," Trump Hearts Randal and You Could Have Made Cash Off Of Oprah

It's 11:40pm, and any minute now Oprah is coming on Letterman and not only am I excited to see this go down, but I actually bet on what Dave would do over at Bodog. So come on, Oprah. Come on!

Even without this, it's been one of the best night's of TV you can bet on EVER.

On Survivor, Judd went home. And he went home after he gave us two of the most fantastic TV moments I could ever ask for. Did you watch? Did you see? First, it was oh so good, during the immunity challenge (which I didn't understand -- an auction?), Jeff Probst in the embarassing-to-you-AND-me way that he does, points at his temple and taps his head and actually says "You'll need smarts for this one." It's embarassing enough to watch Probst act the fool, but the best moment was after he says "You'll need smarts for this one" and the camera cuts to Judd rolling his eyes like HE KNOWS HE'S NOT SMART. So funny.

Better than that? Judd gets voted out and leaves saying, "You're all scumbags." Dude, come on. You were ready to cut Lydia's throat. She was part of your alliance too, remember? You got gamed, sucker.

So Danni, the favorite, makes a move. But Rafe is looking pretty good to me right now at 5 to 1 odds. So you win $5 for every $1 you bet, and if he makes it into the final two, he's going to win for sure. Stephenie's at 7 to 2, and she's got a good shot too if she can make it that far. If Cindy or Lydia are in the final two, people will probably feel like they didn't bring enough game to deserve to be there. Danni may be the favorite, but it's just a long shot that she'll get that far. For the record, Judd was at 9 to 2 when he got voted off. Guess the oddsmakers figured what we did. He was too annoying to win this thing.

Click to see all the Survivor odds at Bodog.

And on The Apprentice: Donald, another brilliant moment. Bill Rancik guest spots on the show even though there's not a person in America who doesn't prefer George to Bill. Felicia and Alla are on a team together, a team I liked to call Team PMS, and they're bickering like, well, women with PMS. Then the camera cuts to Bill. He's in the traditional high school jock senior portrait pose. He's got one leg up and he's leaning over with his arm resting on his leg. Imagine it. Anyway, he smirks and says, "Felicia seems to be having trouble managing Alla." But we know what he means. He means, "Look at me, I'm the only real apprentice ever. Silly women." It was wonderful.

And in the inevitable, Randal's team wins and the crazy women go to the board room and both get fired. And I don't often challenge Trump, but Alla shouldn't have been fired. Really. So now it's down to Randal at 5 to 6, so you should have bet him last week when he was at even money, and Rebecca at even money. And it's been painfully evident for the entire season that Randal will win unless he completely ruins his final task. You should have bet him last week when he was even money!

Okay, Oprah just came on. She looks stunning, as always, and here's how you could have won cash. Bodog had the following odds up all week:

How will David Letterman greet Oprah Winfrey when she appears on The Late Show December 1, 2005?

  • With a hug and kiss on cheek (3 to 2)
  • With a handshake, hug, and kiss on the cheek (11 to 5)
  • With a handshake and kiss on cheek (3 to 1)
  • With only a hug (5 to 1)
  • With only a handshake (7 to 1)
  • With a handshake and a hug (6 to 1)
  • With a hug and a kiss on the lips (15 to 1)
  • With a jump on his couch (20 to 1)
  • No physical contact whatsoever (50 to 1)

Here's the thing, I was watching, but I couldn't tell if there was a kiss on the cheek or not. There was definitely a hug, so if you had bet "With only a hug" you got 5 to 1 on the money you bet. And if there was a kiss on the cheek, and there might have been, you still made $3 for every $2 you bet. And those were the obvious choices.

What a night of TV! Bodog's got great entertainment bets going on right now. Click to check them out.

Reality TV Doesn't Stop for Thanksgiving

But on Survivor, I don't have much to be thankful for. Gary went. Oddly enough, Danni is still the favorite at 3 to 2, even though I have NO IDEA IN THE WORLD how she could possibly swing it to make it into the final four. And Rafe, who's won THREE immunity challenges is at 5 to 1. To me, it's simple math. We know that Rafe, Stephenie or Judd will be the final two. There's no way all three of them will get eliminated before then. Factor the match and figure out how to hedge. I mean, technically I suppose there's a way where they could all three get voted off, but can you imagine?

On Donald's Apprentice, Adam went and it was about time. They tried to make it look like Randall wasn't a shoe in by talking about how his stock had dropped, but come on. Who's gonna beat him?

Get on over to Bodog and bet on Randall at even money. And maybe get bold and bet on Survivor, too. I have a feeling about Rafe, don' t you?

Gary! Gary! Gary!

So I've spent the last three week's saying that, on Survivor, Gary, even though he's one of the favorites at 3 to 1, could only win if tribal lines got broken.

Did they get broken? I'm not sure. One week where you get rid of a physical threat with male pms doesn't mean the rest of the original six will break their plan. But here's what I know: Gary in a final two with just about anybody who's left will win because he's a flat out nice guy who played the game well.

But am I bet hedging? As always. Rafe is 5 to 1. Who wouldn't vote for Rafe? You know what people forget? He's won two immunity challenges. He could sneak in and make the final four and then it's all up in the air. Who knows?

Click on over to Bodog to see the all the odds on the final seven contestants.

Over on The Apprentice: Donald, I'm bored. This was the week where the producers obviously told Randall to mess something up on purpose so they could build drama that maybe Alla for Felicia will win. Yawn. Keep it on Randall at even money. He'll shine this week for sure.

Bobby Jon! Bobby Jon! Whaaaat???

By the way, just for the record, anybody who guessed that because Maggie Grace got movie contracts she'd be the next character voted off of Lost, looks like you cleaned up if you put some money down over at Bodog.

My evening starts out badly and gets, well...

I know, I know, Brandon, Gary, Bobby Jon and Danni have almost NO chance of winning Survivor. Yet they continue to post favorites odds (Danni is 3 to 2, Gary is 3 to 1 and before he went packing off to some resort tonight Bobby Jon was posting at 7 to 2). Anyway, if you saw the show, then you know that Gary found the extra immunity idol and Bobby John went down in a confused jury vote and it was very sad because, well, we all love Bobby Jon right? So here's my point. The three remaining Yaxha members seem doomed, yet they're still the favorites of the oddsmakers. I'd love to see Gary win, but, man, Cindy at 11 to 2 and Lydia at 12 to 1 both seem like they may be good bets. They haven't offended anybody yet, and if people keep voting along tribal lines, at least one of the two of them is almost sure to be in the final four. Hmmmmm.....

And also somebody PLEASE vote Stephenie off. She is UNBEARABLE this season.

And then...

And then...

Last week I say that Marshawn is a great longshot pick to win it all. I say "Great value in that pick." And this week she blows off her team and bails on the at the 11th hour and gets fired? Oh, and Brian gets fired, too, but who even knew who he was?

Odds at Bodog for The Apprentice: Donald have shifted. Randall is still in the lead at even money (and he'd have to uncover naked shots of Donald and post them online to not win this at this point), but Alla has moved up to 4 to 1 and Rebecca has moved up to 3 to 2. And honestly, probably one of them will be in the final two, so if Randall has a bad last task....

It's not too late to get over to Bodog and place a bet. It's down to the final six. Plus, deposit $25 at Bodog and you'll get a free $25 to bet with, so you can place an extra bet on Survivor or, if you've been able to stay awake through it, The Apprentice: Martha.

Oh, Bobby Jon!!!!! Why you?!

Brandon & Marcus: One of these men should nhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifot have gone!

Look, if you were putting your money on Marcus over at Bodog on The Apprentice, then you got what you deserved last night. Got your money on Randall? I hope so, because after Trump all but drooled on him, pointing out that he's been PM twice and not lost, I think we all know how this season is ending.

Over on Survivor, I told you last week that Brandon's odds were inflated and that for sure at least the first week after the merge the voting would be along tribal lines. Hope you listened and didn't put any money down on him! If you believe the tribes will realign, then Bobby John at 7 to 2, Danni at 3 to2 and Gary at 3 to 1 still make sense as the favorites. But Rafe or Cindy would pretty much have to switch tribal lines for that to happen. Otherwise, you have to think an original Nakum member will win, and that puts good betting value for your money on Judd at 9 to 1, Jamie at 8 to 1 and Stephenie at 7 to 2.

Remember when we all liked Stephenie? That seems so long ago. Now she seems kind of, you know, not as nice as I remember.

To sum up how Thursday changes the odds on Survivor & Donald's Peeps

On Survivor, Amy goes home and we're all very sad. As people go, the odds at Bodog switch, and right now you'd be in a better position if you'd gotten on the Brandon bandwagon early on because he's moved all the way up to 7 to 2 odds (win 7 dollars for every 2 dollars bet). And he did look like quite the playa on Thursday (and also he looked HOT). But you've gotta know he's still a bit of a long shot if things shake out according to tribal lines. The original Nakum members are short after the merge, and unless new alliances have been formed, Brandon's in line to get picked off along traditional tribal lines.

Danni is still posting as the strong favorite at 2 to 1. She's flying pretty far under the radar right now, so who knows.

On The Apprentice: Donald Style, Trumpster tried to jump his ratings by firing four, yes FOUR, people. It was actually exciting, unlike the tedium of watching the teams blindly figure out how to sell sports gear. Anyway, not only does that mean less episodes to watch, it means a mass exodus from the available odds-getters. Bodog seems to know what we all know: That Randall would have to steal money from trump or spill red wine on Carolyn to lose at this point, but if for some reason you still think somebody else could win this thing, you might want to consider the long shot Marshawn at 10 to 1. You haven't seen much of her so far, but many of the past winners just wait until later in the game to shine, minimizing thier chances to put themselves on the line and fail early. She might be a force.

And yes, I also watched the lame ER rerun afterwards. Why Ray Liotta? Why?
