Oh, Dan Rather.

I think of Dan Rather like a father figure. A comforting older man who told me the ways of the world every night in a soothing, protective voice.

And then he sued CBS for $70 million for making him a scapegoat for the George Bush military story.

The thing is, if Dan Rather were suing CBS because he wanted to restore his reputation, that would be one thing. In which case, sue for a reasonable amount. But he's suing for $70 MILLION dollars. Dan Rather doesn't NEED $70 MILLION dollars. He hasn't been disfigured or given a terminal illness.

I'm bummed.

But at Bodog, you can bet on whether he'll win or not. "Yes" is at -110 and "No" is at -130.

The Big O getting sued!

Not to be outdone by her recent trip to open up her girls' school in Africa with a star-studded event, Oprah Winfrey is back in the news today because fan Tanya Milner is suing the multi-millionaire's studio for being pushed down the stairs during seating for a taping of the show.

Bodog wants to know if Milner is going to win the $50,000 lawsuit that she's filing:

Yes is at +130 and No is at -170. While the odds are actually kind of close, I don't think this girl has any chance of winning anything. I mean, really, even if you're just going up against the studio and not Oprah herself, you have to realize that Oprah built that place from the ground up and she's got more money and therefore more power, your butt is toast. Why even try, you know?

Brad's magazine cover: Will he sue?

You've probably seen it already: the new cover of Vanity Fair's new "Art Issue" with a wet Brad Pitt on the over clad only in white boxers and socks. He says he didn't authorize the picture being used on the cover, and he may just sue the magazine for running the picture. Will he?

Yes +210
No -320

It looks like it may be a no on that one, though if he's looking to generate some publicity, he might just want to think twice on it.

War of the Colas

BetOnSports sez: A couple of months ago Pepsi executives received a letter where a Coca Cola mole identifying himself as "Dirk," boasted about being employed at a high level with Coca-Cola and offered to sell "very detailed and confidential information.".
In a shocking twist that would make any Hollywood screen writer proud, Pepsi executives decided to share this information with Coca Cola, who in turn shared it with the FBI.

The FBI hence launched an investigation that climaxed when 2 Coke executives where arrested while attempting to sell corporate secrets for 1.5 million dollars.

With the full aftermath of the affair yet to come, Betonsports.com is offering multiple betting odds on what the conclusion of this incident will be, so join in the fun and enjoy the full online wagering experience Betonsports.com provides, while you follow the conclusion of this new chapter in the infamous War of the Colas.

If the FBI's involved, you that's gonna be juicy. Throw down some scrilla and see what happens!

I Love My Netflix

So, in the category of not shocking, Neflix is suing Blockbuster for patent infringement. I mean, honestly, I'm not sure if you can patent mail order delivery of dvds. I'm also not sure you can patent wishlists since, you know, Amazon pretty much did that years ago. But it makes sense, because Netflix can't compete wtih Blockbuster's marketing budget, and if they don't do something, the Blockbuster service will probably run them right out of business.

Even though Netflix stock is currently worth, like, 8x what Blockbuster's stock is worth.

Yep. You can read all about the lawsuit here.

And then, if you think you know who's going to win, you can actually bet on it at -120 for either side at Bodog. I mean, I'm just saying, I'm not really sure how Netflix wins this lawsuit. But that's just me.

Today You Missed Out on Jen's Boobs

Okay, you didn't really miss out on Jennifer Anniston's boobs, but if you're not on the HollyWagers Weekly email list, you did miss out on a can't-lose bet on whether Jen will win her court case against the "journalist" who snapped pictures of her sunbathing topless.

So join the list so you can always have the hottest action. Or come back tomorrow to find out about the bet.

In other news, as we think about 2006 and the happiness of the new year, you can bet on which celebrities will divorce in the new year. This week's featured couple? David Beckham and Victoria "Posh Spice." At BetOnSports, odds are against it at +500 (a 16% chance that they'll get the Big-D). If you think the odds are higher than 16% that the Beckham's will call it quits, click the "Betting Lines" link on the left-hand side and then click "Sports Celebrities" in the lower right hand corner.

Click if you think the chance of Posh and her pretty hubby breaking up is more than 16%!
