Palin for Pit Bull Breeder

No matter how you feel about Sarah Palin, you have to give the woman credit for knowing how to stretch her 15 minutes. I mean, how many other failed Veep candidates can the average person even name? Now ask yourself how many of Palin's children you can name.

Her fame is so great that even the sportsbooks have taken notice.

Bookmaker has the following odds on Sarah's next move:

She will host her own TV talk show +500
She will star in adult films +2000
She will run for office +150
She will sign a book deal +100
She will be a dedicated hockey mom +600
She will be David Letterman's sidekick +700
She will become a pit bull breeder +500

So, yeah, Bookmaker thinks it is more likely that Palin will breed pit bulls than become a dedicated hockey mom... Harsh.

Which American Idol Star's 1st Album Will Debut Highest on the Billboard Top 200?

While Adam Lambert may have lost American Idol 8, we think he will be the winner of this bet. Adam is approachable enough that you want to smile when he smiles and yet retains enough mystery to be intriguing. His classic safe features are combined with just the right amount of gender bending fashion edge to make Midwesterners take notice. And, most importantly, he has a charisma when performing that makes the audience feel this is what he was born to do...one gets completely wrapped up in the moment when watching Lambert on stage because he is something that Allen and Gokey are not. They are singers while Adam is a performer. Lambert may or may not have the longest/most impressive career of the three, but his intrigue combined with the fact that many of his fans flames of devotion were fueled by Allen taking the crown mean that he has a good chance of debuting on the Billboard at the top of his American Idol 8 class.

Bodog has the odds at

Kris Allen 21/20 or $105 profit on $100 bet
Adam Lamber 20/27 or $74 profit on $100 bet
Danny Gokey 10/1 or $1000 profit on $100 bet

Wll Jay-Z's New Album Bluepring 3 Debut at #1?

If the past is any indication of the future, then the answer is yes. Only The Beatles have had more albums debut at #1 (Elvis shares 2nd place with Jay-Z). Apparently, the sportsbooks have a lot of faith in Jay-Z too. Winning a $100 bet that he will debut at #1 will only get you about $18 in profit...winning a $100 bet that he will not debut at #1? $375 profit

Bodog has the odds at

Yes (Blueprint 3 will debut at #1) -550
No (Blueprint 3 will not debut at #1) +375

Perez VS The Peas

The story of the drama between The Black Eyed Peas and Perez Hilton has gotten pretty convoluted, but here are the basics:

1. Perez hates on The Peas new album on his blog
2. Various Peas verbally confront Perez
3. Peas' manager punches Perez
4. Openly gay Perez calls Will.I.Am a "faggot" (put that shoe on the other foot and see just how ugly it looks).
5. Perez makes a whiny, dogmatic and indulgent video blog and sues The Peas' manager for 25k. Yes, 25k for pain and suffering.
6. The ads on Perez's site when the whiny, dogmatic and indulgent video came out? You guessed it...Ads for The Black Eyed Peas new album were plastered all over the place.

So, you may be thinking that this was all done for publicity. Sportsbook has the odds right there with you...

They will admit it was all for publicity +100. Though this being a publicity stunt seems quite possible, the idea that anyone involved will admit that seems very unlikely.

Punching Perez becomes a trend +300

Perez or Will.I.Am are going to discuss this on a talk show +200. This seems like the best bet. After all, The Peas are promoting their new album and Perez is one of those pseudo famous people who is constantly trying to get the attention of, well, anyone.

Summer Lovin'

Yes, it is officially summer, the time for drinking mojitos, eating blueberries and prop betting on babies and divorces. Let's start with the babies. Bodog has a few lines on Gisele and Kendra Willkinson's (Girl Next Door) upcoming deliveries. They have even odds on whose baby will weight more at birth (both at -115). Gisele is
5'10" and 125-130 pounds and her football playing baby daddy (Tom Brady) weighs in at 225 while Kendra is reported to be 5'4" and 115-120 lbs and her football playing baby daddy (Hank Basket) weights in at 220. While genetics are a little more complicated than simple math, Gisele looks like a good bet.

You can also bet on the gender of the babies.

Kendra Willkinson's baby

Boy -120
Girl -120

Gisele's baby

Boy -120
Girl -110

Moving on to divorces, Bookmaker is taking bets on who will split up next. According to their odds, Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett are the couple on the list with the most staying power. Couples who may be in for a rocky road ahead include Sean Penn & Robin Wright Penn as well as Pete Wentz & Ashley Simpson. Smith and Pinkett really is the worst bet. Not only are you unlikely to cash in, but even if you do, who could help but feel bad about these two getting divorced? Though the Penns have already filed for divorce, they also filed for withdrawal of those same papers in April of this year.

It is hard to choose among the many possibilities on the list, but you know there is money to be made when the odds on a seasoned divorcee like Lopez are towards the middle of the pack.

Sarah Jessica Parker & Mathew Broderick +850
Will Smith & Jada Pinkett +1000
Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes +600
David Arquette & Courtney Cox +600
Josh Durhamel & Fergie +450
Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopex +500
Pete Wentz & Ashley Simpson +250
Sean Penn & Robin Wright Penn +200

Kiefer Sutherland on the Wrong Side of the Law (Again)

It seems that Kiefer Sutherland has been as impervious to harm as his 24 character, Jack Bauer. Having a Canadian play one of the most patriotic characters on American television today is remarkable enough by itself. Combine that with the fact that Sutherland seems to be constantly getting super drunk and then a. getting arrested or b. making the headlines for acting like a complete fool and it is a miracle that his ability to assume the role of the ever disciplined Bauer hasn't been compromised. His latest shenanigans involve head butting a fashion designer because of what Jack (Whoops! I meant Kiefer) perceived to be a threat (Whoops! I meant insult) to The First Lady (Whoops! I meant Brooke Shields). He has, as a result, been charged with assault.

BetUS has lines on whether or not Sutherland will be arrested again in 2009. They have more faith in him than I do.

Will Kiefer Sutherland be arrested again in 2009?
Yes +150
No -200

A quick review of his rap sheet...
1989 and 1993 charged with DUIs and reckless driving. Plead guilty to reckless driving, DUIs were dropped.
2004 drinking and driving offense
2007 drinking and driving (while still on probation for his 2004 offense)
2009 assault charge (while still on probation for his 2007 offense).

Will Archie Choose Betty or Veronica?

While both girls have their virtues, the odds favor Betty and she does seem like the best bet on the surface. After all, how will Archie ever provide for himself, let alone provide the lifestyle that Veronica is accustomed to? No, Archie needs a strong, solid woman who isn't afraid to work hard and support her man. In addition to Archie's practical needs, the writers will also be considering their readers. Given Americans love/hate relationship with do-nothing heiresses, it doesn't seem smart to alienate audiences by choosing the girl who engenders such ambivalence over the girl who engenders such devotion.

Then again where will the story go if Archie marries Betty? If he chooses Veronica, there are countless duck out of water options available as Archie and Veronica try to be partners to each other in worlds uncomfortable to both of them. Think that Veronica is the woman who will walk away with the prize that is Archie? The payoff is almost double at Bookmaker.

Archie will choose to marry Betty -150
Archie will choose to marry Veronica +110

2012 Presidential Election

Yes, it is true. You can already place bets on the 2012 Presidential Election (actually, you could have bet on this months ago). Look at it as a positive indicator that Americans are becoming more engaged in the election process. There are a variety of lines on offer - the Democratic and Republican Nominees, who will be elected and which party will be elected. Anyone who identifies with one of the two major political parties can benefit from the party to be elected bet. If you vote Republican and bet Democrat you will win (in some way) if either party takes the White House. Rinse and repeat for Democrats.

Right now at Sportsbook a $100 bet will win a $60 profit if Democrats win and a $120 profit if Rebuplicans win.

Party Elected

Democrats -160
Republicans +120

DWTS Finale

It's not too late to bet on Dancing with the Stars. Who will the winner be? Gilles Marini seems to be a fan favorite in many ways, but it is hard to imagine Americans voting for a Frenchman (even a gorgeous and talented Frenchman) over a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader (nursing a publicly broken heart no less) AND an adorable Olympic gymnast (from Iowa no less). Then again, who knows? Perhaps we really are becoming citizens of the world.

Rush over to Sportsbook to get your bets in.

Gilles Marini -200
Melissa Rycroff +200
Shawn Johnson +250

Which Movie Will be the Highest Grossing Film of 2009?

Bookmaker thinks it will be "Transformers Revenge of the Fallen" and consequently has the line at +100. Seriously. The "Transformers" sequel. "Night at the Museum 2" also seems like a strong blockbuster possibility to them at +550. Seriously. The "Night at the Museum" sequel. Love or hate these movies, these could be great bets. To quote the ever wise Lisa Simpson "You will never go broke appealing to the lowest common denominator."

XMen Origins Wolverine +550
Star Trek +880
Angels & Demons +650
Terminator Salvation +500
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen +100
Year One +1100
Land of the Lost +900
Up +1300
Inglorious Bastards +900
Bruno +1300
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince +350
Funny People +1300
G.I. Joe Rise of Cobra +800

Who Will Win American Idol 2009?

With just two contestants remaining, sports books have their money on long time favorite, Adam Lambert. However, I think that bettors should consider the Gokey factor. Fans of Gokey have proven themselves to be outspoken, salt of the earth types who are not likely to join the Adam fan club. Will they be so disengaged from Gokey's loss that they won't view or call in? Or, will they call in and vote for Kris in order to show their distaste for his competitor?

If you want to bet for Allen, Bookmaker has some good odds.

Adam Labert -300
Kris Allen +250
Both Bookmaker and Bodog favor Adam. If you favor him too, Bodog's line is a little better.

Adam Lambert 5/14 (-280)
Kris Allen 11/5 (+220)

Betting on the Bee

How many times in life do you have the opportunity to combine grade school and gambling? BetUs is giving you just such a chance with their lines on the 2009 National Spelling Bee. You can bet on the length of the winning word, whether or not the champion will be donning glasses along with their trophy, and the gender of the winner. Ladies have historically had a slightly stronger showing than men, winning forty three championships vs. forty one for the boys. However, this year the guys have the upper hand as they have more overall contestants. There are 150 boys and 143 girls competing this year, making this the biggest spelling bee contest in history.

The grand prize winner takes home 30k from Scripps. How much are you going to take home from BetUs?

Gender of Winner
Male -130
Female -110

Length of Winning Word
Over 9.5 Letters -130
Under 9.5 Letters -110

Winner to Wear Glasses
Yes +120

It Bags - Inspired by Gossip Girl - Paid for by American Idol

Just as CW is changing the face of television revenue, so too is Gossip Girl changing the face of fashion. GG is one of a number of shows on the CW that make up for their lackluster ratings with stunning product placement revenues. While ratings for the show have been modest, it is widely considered the most powerful fashion influencer on TV today. Not only do stores quickly sell out of items seen on the show, fashion designers are also admitting that the preppy chic personified by the characters is influencing their lines. Whether you are a fan of classic Lily or bohemian Serena, keeping up with the Van Der Woodsons isn't easy with the ladies of GG changing their handbags (ranging from $2,000 to $17,000) at least once an episode.

What are we non-upper east siders to do? What we must...Rely on wit and our knowledge of American Idol to get a Balenciaga bag on our arm. Bodog is still taking bets on who will win. Will it be Adam, Danny or Kris? Just make sure it is you. Check out detailed line information from Bodog and get a 10% Bonus on your initial deposit.

Next Animal Flu in 2009 Will Be...

Yes, sportsbooks are taking odds on the next strain of influenza. Bookmaker has lines on the following animals: Duck, Horse, Camel and Elephant, - all at +300. Which animal is the best bet?

Well, the WHO has pointed out that influenza, infections diseases and epidemics have all been on the rise - more than ever before. Many scientists link the rise in diseases and viruses to an increase in human travel and the industrialization of animal agricultural practices. Horses and ducks seem to be the only creatures from the Bookmaker list associated with the agricultural industrial complex. Horses may be a good bet because they produce larger quantities of the fecal matter scientists observe animals continuously expel and inhale, creating a vicious cycle of respiratory transmission. Ducks may be a good bet as well since aquatic birds comprise one of the largest pools of influenza viruses on earth.

Miss USA 2009 - Betting On Beauty

On one hand, I think that women should have the right to make money and express their life in any way they choose......This includes expressing their lives as decorations for cash.

On the other hand, the following things make me a little queasy - A woman's most valuable asset in 2009 is still her beauty (in dominant culture). Women are actually voluntarily parading themselves on a stage to be scrutinized in bikinis. Media criticisms of the most powerful women in the world are still focused on how they fail as objects, not as intellects. And, to quote Ani Difranco "You know I could go on, but it just gets worse and I should probably stop there."

Maybe you want to party like it is 1959 and take a vested interest in Miss USA 2009. Maybe you think that beauty pageants are great and set up positive role models for young girls. Or, maybe you just want women who are not dressing for pay to profit off this contest. Whatever your take on Miss USA is, you can find complete odds for each contestant, listed by state, at BetUS.

Utah +700
Nebraska +800
Hawaii +800
California +1800
Colorado +3000
New Jersey +5500
South Dakota +8000

Which Cancelled 90's Show Will Be Remade?

While your heart may be crying our for the answer to that question to be a brilliant show like My So Called Life your wallet may do better with Baywatch. Bookmaker is taking bets on remakes of the following shows: Saved by the Bell, Full House and Baywatch. Strangely enough, they also seem think the odds are in that order, with Saved by the Bell being the most likely to be remade and Baywatch being the least likely.

Saved by the Bell - Most likely to be remade? While part of me recoils from this idea, a calm evaluation of the facts leads one to the conclusion that, for reasons unknowable, Saved by the Bell may be the only thing in Hollywood more resilient than Julia Robert's forever young skin. This teen drama has led to The College Years, The New Class, two TV movies and a comic book series. Even the "original" Saved by the Bell is a remake of Good Morning, Miss Bliss. Can Mr. Belding make campy jokes while doling out guidance to young people whose lives are addressing the social problem du jour for one more remake? Sure he can. Just ask him and Jimmy Fallon who have recently campaigned for just such an event on SNL.

Full House - The problem with remaking this show is that its appeal is far more about members of the Tanner family than any formula or theme. Apparently, John Stamos (Uncle Jesse) pushed hard and long for a semi-remake of the show before giving up. The idea was to look at the lives of the Tanner girls all grown up (which seems like it would have mass appeal if most of the Tanner ladies were actually available). Does anyone think that the Olson twins are going to make regular appearances on a Full House remake? Even Uncle Jesse's wife on the show is now busy starring on the 90210 remake. Unless the show became extremely subversive, it is hard to imagine how D.J. and Stephanie's characters could be compelling enough to fuel an entire series.

Baywatch - This seems like a good bet. After all, in the words of Joey and Chandler from Friends the appeal of this show is as simple and timeless as it is universal -
"beautiful people running."

Saved by the Bell -150
Full House +100
Baywatch +150

Who Will Be the Next Batman Villain?

If you believe the gossip, it will be Johnny Depp and Philip Seymore Hoffman - playing The Riddler and the Penguin respectively. If you believe in choosing stars by democratic process (okay, actually just an online survey by Blockbuster), Johnny Depp would be the first choice, followed by Angelina Jolie as Catwoman. Really though, it is hard to imagine losing as a move watcher (or a prop bettor) if either Hoffman or Depp is cast for the role of villain, let alone both of them.

Then there is Eddie Murphy.....While Murphy's personal life may make him a very believable villain, his tendency to dwell more in the valley of bombs than in the Hollywood hills of blockbusters may make film makers shy away from him. Then again, the severe (albeit negative) response of Batman fans to this rumor could actually help drum up buzz for the film.

Bookmaker has the odds at:

Phillip Seymore Hoffman +100
Eddie Murphy +200
Johnny Depp +150

American Idol Season 7 is Coming SOON!

Can you tell how utterly excited and thrilled I am about this!!? I just checked BetUS and they ALREADY have a prop bet on American Idol's Season 7 winner. Will it be Male or Female?

Right now is actually a good time to get in on this prop because Male and Female are tied with each other at -120.

I think I'll be putting my money on Male. 4 out of the 6 winners of American Idol have been Female. So, we are clearly overdue for having a Male winner!

I cannot wait to see it all unfold this January!

But before we begin anew, may we take a moment of silence to remember our favorite Top 2 contestants from last season: Blake and Jordin!

Caveman vs Gecko

Did anyone see the new "Sitcom" inspired by the Geico commercials called "Cavemen"? Yeah, I didn't think so! The Cavemen guys aren't even funny in the commercials, why would a TV show change this? They whine and wallow in their own pity parties about how ugly and dumb they are. How annoying!

It's the Gecko we all love! He's witty, smart, straight to the point, funny, and even handsome! Oh yes, I think I have a crush on a green computer generated gecko! Why can't this guy get his own show?

Bodog actually has a prop bet on how many episodes "Cavemen" will last before it's cancelled or put on hiatus.
Odds that it will make it through MORE than 4.5 episodes are -115 at Bodog.
Odds that it will NOT make it through more than 4.5 episodes are -125 at Bodog.

The disturbing thing about this prop bet is how close these odds are to each other. Is it really that much of a toss up on whether or not this show is going to get the AXE soon? I'm just asking because it's clear to me that this show is not going to make it very far at all! Bet the UNDER HERE!!!

Super Bowl XLI Prop Bets For Dummies!!

If you're like me at all, a deer-in-the-headlights look comes over your face when people start talking about making bets on the actual ACTION of the Super Bowl! I mean, how am I supposed to know what rushing yards or a coffin corner punt are? I've been watching football for my whole life, and still have NO clue! Maybe my eyes are focused more on the pizza and the candy jar! Or maybe I just watch the game with guys who are too drunk to explain rules and regulations. Yeh, that must be it!
Anyway, I saw some cool prop bets on the Super Bowl listed on BetUS that require absolutely NO understanding of the game! (Well, very very little!) Betting on props makes watching the game even more fun and exciting, and the handicappers are usually less experienced at setting these types of lines, which makes the odds of YOU winning even more favorable!

How will the coin land in the INFAMOUS coin toss?
Heads is at -110
Tails is at -110.
See, this is EASY! Just pick one!

Which team will score the first touchdown of the game?
The Colts are favored at -160 and
The Bears are the underdog at +120.
And if you don't know how to identify when a team scores a touchdown, just wait until there's a lot of yelling and/or chest bumping!

Will the first team to score win the game?
This one requires your attention from the beginning until the end! But, it's definitely a no-brainer! Betting on this one will at least keep you in the action and make everyone think you really care more about the game than the commercials!
BetUS has Yes at -200 and No at +150.

Now go and have fun! Enjoy the game and let me know if you get lucky!
